Grand Prix of Qatar

The fabulous Losail International Circuit is located on the outskirts of Doha, the capital of Qatar.

In 2008, Qatar held the first night Grand Prix in history. The switch to night racing was a success and has become one of the most spectacular on the MotoGP calendar.

Losail is a circuit with a length of 5,380 m. and is located 20 km. northeast of Doha (the capital of Qatar).

The first riders to achieve victory in 2004 at Losail were Jorge Lorenzo in the 125 cc category. with Derby. Sebastian Porto in 250cc. with Aprilia and in the MotoGP category Sete Gibernau with Honda won.

The lap time record at the Losail circuit is held by Jorge Lorenzo with Yamaha, in 2016 he managed to turn in 1: 54: 543. As for the speed record, it has been held by Andrea Iannone since 2016, with a speed of 351.2 km/h, measured at the end of its long main straight of 1,068 metres.

The circuit has a sophisticated lighting system made up of 1,000 light poles and 3,600 spotlights with a power equivalent to lighting 70 football stadiums or 3,000 medium-sized houses

Qatar is a sovereign Arab state located in western Asia and that occupies the small peninsula of Qatar in the east of the Arabian peninsula, the name for its inhabitants is ""Catari"", its currency is the Qatari Riyal and something significant in that area is Temperatures usually exceed 40º C.

Qatar has experienced rapid economic growth in recent years, due to the high price of oil and its derivatives. One of the great projects, and proof of its rapid growth, was the construction of the Losail International Circuit in 2004.

Its territory is practically surrounded by the waters of the Persian Gulf.

In 2022 the World Cup will be held.
